Automotive equipment like In-Car Entertainment (ICE) typically connects to a vehicle’s electrical system with two links: one for memory backup and one for switching the equipment on/off via the ignition. This ensures the ICE turns off when the key is removed to prevent battery drain, while the memory backup remains active. Some trucks also run 12V equipment like cigar lighters from the same feed or keep it permanently on.

Alfatronix voltage converters (3A, 6A, 12A) solve this by providing two outputs: one permanent, available whenever the 24V battery is connected, and one switched, activated by the ignition.
