The Direct Vision Standard 2024 is an enhancement of the existing DVS scheme in place to improve road safety. In this article, we will look at the Direct Vision Standard 2024 and the kit you need for compliance ahead of the deadline (28th October).
What does the DVS 2024 kit need to do?
The DVS 2024 requires additional visibility for the driver in order to ensure the safety of vulnerable users of the road, particularly pedestrians and cyclists. This is at the front of the vehicle with a MOIS (Moving Off Information System) and along the nearside with a BSIS (Blind Spot Information System), which can be cameras or sensors.
The DVS star rating system
The DVS star rating system looks at the safety aspects of each particular vehicle, then they are awarded a certain number of stars. Going forward (post-October 28th 2024), vehicles will needs to have a minimum of 3-star rating to comply or install a ‘Progress Safe System’.
What is the Progressive Safe System (PSS)?
The PSS is the kit you need for compliance with the latest developments of the DVS scheme. This will ensure that the blind spots are eliminated so the driver has full visibility in front and along the nearside of the vehicle.
The Daltec DVS 2024 kits
The Daltec DVS 2024 kit ensures that the blind spots are eliminated to ensure compliance with the DVS 2024. The kits are essentially a (PPS) ‘Progressive Safe System’ with a MOIS (Moving Off Information System), and BSIS (Blind Spot Information System).
